[edit] Why allow user to specify colors?

Why does the template allow (require?) the user to specify the colors bgcolor and fgcolor? In all uses of the template, they're black (#000) and white (#fff), respectively. Why not just hardcode it into the template? --Fred Bradstadt 21:56, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

Since noone has objected within the last week, I have now hardcoded the black&white colors into the template. -Fred Bradstadt 19:48, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Rename template

This should really be Template:Infobox Simpsons character or something like that. —Fitch 20:11, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

I agree. Better put a rename on this. AidPc 21:18, 21 November 2005 (UTC)
I know this is a very late reply, but it was cause a lot of problems. SimpsonsFan08 talk contribs 11:27, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Age

If anyone reads this... Although we have nothing as detailed as Dates in Star Wars, maybe we should link the Age title (not the value, just Age) to some kind of explanation? After all, the show has been on for more years than Bart is old. Staxringold 01:34, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Voice

Anyone think it would be a good idea to put in a "Voiced by" section? - RHeodt 19:01, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Sensible idea, maybe "Voice Actor" might be better...? -- The pathetic APclark Be nice not nasty 20:17, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Definitely a good idea. --Steven Fisher 07:06, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
  • I've added it. Seems to work well on the Homer Simpson page; I haven't tried it anywhere else yet. -- Steven Fisher 21:18, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Religion

I think religion should be added to the template, seeing as it has become an important theme of the Simpsons. (especially recently) Rubedeau 22:10, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree. Wsultzbach 24:37, 13 January 2007

[edit] Last appearance

Ok, I know it would only really have a purpose on Bleeding Gums and Maude Flanders pages. But it could be good to have it, even if it was just specifically added to there pages. Who knows, although unlikely, other characters may die in the future. Gran2 20:27, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Maude Flanders was shown in season 17 in heaven. Bleeding Gums could also be shown that way or in a dream sequence. I don't really think it is a good idea. --Maitch 20:33, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
I've already added it to the template -60.50.63.63 10:13, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I've removed it again. It is a bad idea which requires to much maintaining. --Maitch 14:13, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Creator

I've already added the "created by" to the template, given that Matt Groening created the original characters with the idea that they would become the long-running television series, The Simpsons. -60.50.63.63 10:10, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

  • If every character was created by Matt Groening, what's the point of having a creator listed in the template? >Radiant< 12:01, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New revamped Simpsons character infobox

I've already revamped the Simpsons character infobox recently. All the previous features present in this new version, but the last appearance is added. In addition, the creator is optional. --Bryan Seecrets 06:09, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

First of all, these things have been discussed before and consensus is that we shouldn't add these things. Secondly, you can't just change a template without checking what effect it has on the articles. I checked Ned Flanders and it looked terrible. I have reverted your changes. --Maitch 12:12, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hair colour

Does this field serve a point? I mean, there is a picture of the character in the box, you don't to say what colour their hair is, its to trivial. Gran2 07:26, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree. People can see it on the picture. --Maitch (talk) 09:45, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Copied from Talk:Troy McClure

Can we remove "hair color" from the infobox? People can just look at the picture. It's certainly not a defining characteristic. Zagalejo^^^ 01:31, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

This would apply to all such articles, assuming they are using hair colour in the infoboxes too. Richard001 (talk) 01:36, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I think we should remove it from every article, as it's a judgment call. We'd have to change Template:Simpsons character to do all that. I tried to change it myself, but realized I didn't know what I was doing. Zagalejo^^^ 01:40, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
It's certainly clear from all the pictures as far as I can see, so unless we want to keep it in case images are switched off or something, it should probably go. It seems too pedantic/fanboyish to me. Looks like it has already been brought up at Template talk:Simpsons character#Hair colour, and we all seem to agree. I'm useless with templates myself, but I have removed the field and reference to it in the documentation, so that seems to have done it. Richard001 (talk) 01:45, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
