[edit] Additions to Simon the Sorcerer series
User:62.253.96.42 has recently added some text to the Simon the Sorcerer series article. Included in the text are three claims:
- It was almost universally condemned by critics
- It was a financial flop
- It angered the fans of the orginal games
I have removed this text because it is not sourced. Does anyone have a reference for these three claims? --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 16:44, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
Sources:
- This is a good source that it wasn't well received. But a average rating of 56%, I won't go as far as "almost universally condemned". --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 19:37, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
Any plans to move the three games into separate pages? This would allow use of the CVG infobox template (see FOTAQ) on the top-right for each game. Burns flipper 12:58, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- IMO, I don't see a need to split the article. There isn't really enough information yet to justify a seperate article for each. Splitting them just because of the infobox seems like a bit of a cheat. This may change when Simon 4 is out and the page is somewhat bigger. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 17:14, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
- No info on Simon 4 on this page yet; I notice the German and Spanish pages have some info. Burns flipper 08:55, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
-
- More info could be added if we started compiling walkthroughs for each game, but I'm not sure if there's a place for that in Wikipedia, is it appropriate or would it be better to just append links to walkthrough pages elsewhere? Kris 12:33, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Simon 4
Currently no citation for "reports indicate...", can someone please add where this is sourced from. Burns flipper 13:31, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, the link in the sentence above mentions a bit about what the reports indicate, such as plans for STS4 to be in 3D, and how certain reversions to the original gameplay will be made (like scrapping the action elements) after criticism of STS3. The reversions are not stipulated as such but the implication is there, if you know what people's problems with STS3 were. Perhaps a bit of rewording is needed to explain this if no suitable reference can be found (I for one have really struggled to find much about the new game). Hopefully this issue can be nullified anyway, when the game finally gets released and we can delete the speculative paragraph, and all write about it in present and past tenses! [edit] Propose split
There's already a separate article for Simon the Sorcerer II (StS II). I think Simon the Sorcerer I and Simon the Sorcerer 3D should also be split out, because this article is getting too large in my opinion. Summaries for each game should be retained, and the summary for StS II should be slimmed down.
If there are no objections, I'll do this in the next few days. Hertzsprung (talk) 22:05, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good idea to me. I will do what I can to find reception information for the new stubs. Bill (talk|contribs) 22:19, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
I've now made this split. A summary of changes I've made:
- Replace the old disambig page with the first Simon the Sorcerer game. I've retained the link to Simon Magnus at the head of the article.
- Moved some specific external links and categories out of this series page, and into their respective articles
- Cleaned up the summaries and some small wording changes in all articles
Let me know if there are any problems with my edits. Hertzsprung (talk) 22:44, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
