[edit] Notability

Is this subject notable enough to justify its own article for now? Seems to me it's very short and lacks sufficent third-party coverage. --MrStalker (talk) 17:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

I share similar concerns this article that is article might be a bit premature, this is looks very much like the case of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SimCity 5 (second nomination), where a single source suggests that the game is going to be created, but there is a little else available and not much that can be confirmed. A search brings up a few things, but most is just empty pages or forums. This could be merged into another article such as SimCity (series) as a compromise. I agree. --MrStalker (talk) 23:15, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm the creator of the article. Sorry if I jumped the line by making the article. I know the usual notability conditions that apply (i.e. google hits, alexa rankings, etc...), but since this was a sequel in a notable series that has a working title, go ahead by a notable person (Sims label president, Nancy Smithalong), an estimated timeframe, and a Gamespot article, I just thought that would make it acceptable.
However, I do think this case is a bit different than the SimCity 5 articles, most of which were just speculation of what SimCity 4 fans wanted and weren't encyclopedic in the least. All we had was a brief statement by an EA official that said they had "another SimCity in the pipeline." That statement alone wasn't even a guarantee of a SimCity game (it could have been cancelled shortly after with no mention to the press), let alone SimCity 5 (which as we now know it wasn't - it was SimCity Societies). Many agreed that wasn't a basis for many of the large speculation SimCity 5 articles that began popping up.
Once again, I apologize if it Jumped ahead. I wouldn't mind seeing the paragraph (which is all the article is at the moment) added to the SimCity (series), but I remember seeing a mention of SimCity Societies in the Overview section get deleted when information was added. I'm not sure where this games mention will fit in the article and if, once there, it won't simply be removed. PoeticXcontribs 15:42, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
This article is also based on a similar sort of press release, which like the other one lacked any kind of detail, though I agree we are in a better position than before in other ways - such as this time we have a working title rather than a speculative one. The current structure of the SimCity (series) article does not seem to favour the inclusion of the information of this article, but really it should be the perfect place for it and maybe the series article should be expanded/restructured to have a section on the history and future of the series in general, regardless of what happens to this article. Camaron | Chris (talk) 20:47, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Following some changes at the SimCity (series) article a section there now pretty much duplicates this article, which now opens the door to simply redirect the article to this section until the game is more notable. Are there any objections if I go ahead with the merger? Camaron | Chris (talk) 17:32, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Stormtracker94 has been bold and gone ahead with the merger. Camaron | Chris (talk) 20:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Nintendo DS version

This link suggests that the game is also coming out for Nintendo DS in September in Europe. However, based on the timing, it could very well be a renamed SimCity DS 2 instead of an entirely new game like the Wii version. Although most of the released details pertain to the Wii version, I've still put references to a DS version of the game in the article until we can be sure what the situation is. Misterkillboy (talk) 06:25, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

According to screen shots on the Official Site, the Ds version is almost certainally a localised Sim City DS 2. I've put redirect links for the time being, I'm not sure if a merge would be more appropiate or not. Misterkillboy (talk) 00:36, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
