Sims Supermarket is a chain of independent supermarkets across the western suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.
Stores are located in Footscray and Werribee and formerly in West Geelong. Two Sims Supermarkets, located at Hoppers Crossing and Sunshine, have recently been sold to macPlus Retail Group, and have been re-badged as IGA stores.
The Sims stores are owned and operated by the Sims family and were formerly known as SSW, or Super Saviours Weekly. After the death of Bill Sims Snr in 1986, the family sold all but their home store in Barkly Street Footscray, then two years later, led by Bill Sims Jnr, Sims supermarket was re-badged. Associated with IGA, (Independent Grocers of Australia), Sims Supermarkets continues to struggle to compete against the constant increase in large chain supermarkets, and recently, a German owned and operated cut price store.
