Simpsonville is a city in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States and a suburb of Greenville. The population was 14,352 at the 2000 census. Simpsonville is part of the "Golden Strip", along with Mauldin and Fountain Inn, which is noted for having low unemployment due to a diversity of industries including Para-Chem, Kemet, and Milliken. Simpsonville is home to Hillcrest High School.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 14,352 people, 5,391 households, and 4,021 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,306.1 people per square mile (890.9/km²). There were 5,636 housing units at an average density of 905.6/sq mi (349.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 82.69% White, 13.76% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.79% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.23% from other races, and 1.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.65% of the population.
There were 5,391 households out of which 39.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.6% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.4% were non-families. 20.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city the population was spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 97.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $47,223, and the median income for a family was $52,043. Males had a median income of $38,680 versus $26,394 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,139. About 5.2% of families and 6.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.8% of those under age 18 and 6.1% of those age 65 or over.
