Simpak International, LLC, located in Louisville, Kentucky manufactures a single patented product known as Simpads[2], which are a form of packaging protection utilized in the shipping of fragile items. Formed in 2004[1] to manufacture and market the Simpad, the company offers an environmentally friendly solution to the packaging industry. The product won a grant from the Vogt Foundation shortly after is was launched, providing it with some vital seed capital.[3] The product is made by vacuum sealing high-density EPS foam beads within a vapor-barrier plastic, so that the resulting Simpad can be molded to protect a variety of products.
