Simon Yanis, born 11 June 1960 growing up in Islington , began playing Rugby Union at the age of nine. At the age of twelve him and his family move to England By the age of fifteen he was playing first grade for the local Derbyshire Devils, England. By the age of eighteen was playing tighthead prop for England, scoring an astonishing four tries on debut against Fiji. At the age of twenty-four returned to Australia, in hope to play for his home nation, and finally got that chance in 1985 playing against his former nation, England. Then represented Australia in the inaugural World Cup, later retiring in 1988. He now resides in 5 union st Newcastle, being inducted into the Australian Rugby Union Hall of Fame in 1996.
