Occupation | Game Director |
Simon Phipps began making games some 22 years ago as a self-taught back-bedroom computer programmer whose first published game was written while he was at school. He spent a few months writing business software before he was approached to provide some freelance artwork for Sheffield-based Gremlin Graphics. At his interview, he was offered a full-time position. He took the chance of leaving the world of safe and serious computing to give the more risky business of videogames a try. Simon Phipps has worked on many games in his lifetime. He has worked on Acclaim Entertainment's hit ShadowMan game alongside game designer Guy Miller. Simon used to work for Acclaim Teesside, but about 9 months into making the game ShadowMan: 2econd Coming, he left Acclaim for EA where he has been working alongside Guy Miller on the Harry Potter games.
He is currently a Game Director at Electronic Arts.
