He appeared on several magazine covers but fame declined by the end of the 1970s. In the 1980s, he released several singles on el records as The King of Luxembourg, many of them having been given airplay by BBC Radio DJ John Peel. In 1990 he even released an album on Creation Records.

In the 1980s Simon Turner started to record film sountracks, most notably for Derek Jarman's Caravaggio. He also composed the complete score for William Eggleston in the Real World as well as for David Lynch produced film Nadja. Many of his soundtracks were released on CD.

He occasionally works as actor. He portrayed Dr. Gilbert in the Oscar nominated movie The End of the Affair.

Simon Turner continues to record albums for Mute Records as Simon Fisher-Turner. He lives with his wife and child in London.
