Simon Astaire (born 1961) is an increasingly well known PR and Media representative for a growing number of famous people in the UK and the United States. Beginning his career at literary agent Eric Glass, Simon was also briefly manager of Mike Scott of The Waterboys for a period in 1982 and was later head hunted by the leading talent agent business International Creative Management (ICM) where he became the youngest agent yet to be employed by the firm.
During his ten-year career as head of young artists(clients included Oscar Winner Rachel Weisz) and international signings at ICM, Simon established a thriving music department. Much time spent working between Los Angeles, London and New York earned recognition as one of the first genuine cross-Atlantic talent agent..
In 1997 he became Chief Executive of Protocol Multimedia with diverse media divisions that included personal representation, product and celebrity endorsement and PR.
Protocol worked with companies such as Bvlgari, Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Alfred Dunhill ,Saatchi & Saatchi . Astaire contacted celebrities, negotiated fees and opportunities to support brands exclusively as roving ambassadors. Charlize Theron was contracted to Bvlgari as Lady Helen Taylor was to Armani. Simon also negotiated an unprecedented deal between writer Fay Weldon and Bvlgari; she was commissioned to write a novel 'The Bvlgari Connection' in what was the first commission of its kind.
Astaire advises amongst others members of the Hollywood establishment, [[British Royal Family] including Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Lady Helen Taylor nee Windsor, Lord Frederick Windsor and other celebrities on all things media. He is seen regularly quoted on their behalf in the national press.
He appears as a pundit regularly on CNN, Sky News, [[Five]), and other networks commenting upon all key media and celebrity stories.
He is a trustee of the MTV Foundation a charitable arm to MTV Networks.
Born June 3rd, 1961 in St. Mary's Paddington in London to stockbroker Edgar Astaire and interior designer Lesley Jacklin - he has two brothers. Simon Astaire has lived much of his working life in London, [[Los Angeles]. He was educated at Wellesley House in Kent and Harrow School. Astaire's son, Milo Astaire was born June 1993. Milo's mother is model Saffron Aldridge. His Uncle is the sport and property entrepreneur Jarvis Astaire.
