Simon Addis (December 30, 1745June 23, 1834) was a Captain of the Middlesex County, New Jersey militia during the American Revolutionary War. He was born in Northhampton, Bucks County, Pennsylvania on December 30, 1745 to Richard Addis and Maria Wyckoff.

He was married four times:

  • Mariah Hollingshead (c1745-1766)
  • Eleanor Vliet (1744-1792) on December 15, 1766
  • Maria Van Cleef (1756-1796) aka Mary Van Cleef
  • Nellie Voorhees (c1760-1832) aka Nelly Voorhees

Eleanor Vliet and Simon Addis had the following children:

  • Daniel Addis (1768-1832) who married Margaret Vandike
  • Mary Addis who married David Nevins

[edit] Death

He died in Six Mile Run, Franklin Township, Somerset County, New Jersey and was buried in Elm Ridge Cemetery, North Brunswick. A new marker was placed on their graves by the DAR in 1932.
