[edit] Licensing
This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted film, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by the studio which produced the film, and possibly also by any actors appearing in the screenshot. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
[edit] Fair use for The Simpsons Movie
This image is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- No free equivalent exists that would visually show a scene from the film, which is copyrighted in nature, of how many characters were able to be drawn into just one scene, in this case over 320.
- The image does not in any way limit the ability of the copyright owners to market or sell their product.
- The image is only used once and is rendered in low resolution to avoid piracy and to limit it's impact on the film's marketability.
- The image has been published outside Wikipedia; see source above.
- The image meets general Wikipedia content requirements and is encyclopedic.
- The image meets Wikipedia's media-specific policy.
- The image is used in the article wiki-linked in the section title.
- The image is significant in illustrating the film's animation style and display a scene with a vast amount of characters, detailed in the Animation and Casting sections of the article.
- The image is used in the article namespace.
- The image has a brief description that identifies the image, notes the source, and provides attribution to the copyright holder.
