I plan to improve this page. This was originally a section in the sterling silver page. But there were two problems:

• the information was getting too lengthy

• there were starting to be descriptions of hallmarks on silver that were not used to mark sterling (silver of the 925 millesimal fineness

Therefore, I moved this information to a separate page.
