[edit] Extra Data references
I see that most of the references showed in the section Influences and references were taken almost verbatim from a spanish spoken website (http://www31 . websamba . com/silent_hill_dawn/Silent_Hill_Easter_Eggs.htm) with data included on some forums like Silent Hill Forum. Some of the data were just translated from spanish and references like Blue Bell and the Coca Cola logo I found them only on that particular fansite and some other forums posted by the same author in spanish and english.--189.157.112.106 (talk) 14:51, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cult parallels
This game, it has serious parallels to illuminati mind control. The illuminati is an occult, satanic cult and they control victims by torturing them to such an extreme they dissociate and their mind shatters to create multiple personalities to protect themselves from the trauma. These personalities are programmed and triggers are put in that mean certain things only to the victim. They can be put into a trance to switch personalities. Because their mind isn't working as a whole, victims go through their whole lives in a kind of trance. Because they are in a trance, things can be inserted into their minds that disable their thinking or make them think in a certain way. A trance is where you can see and feel things in your imagination, the slave's internal world. So for example, a victim can read a part of the wizard of oz where it says "Thror pounded his hammer" (or something) and it would embed into the mind a troll that pounds its hammer and causes a headache if the slave tries to think behind its programming.
This mind control is actually a version of that used by ancient mystery and occult religions where they used drugs to go into a trance, and this is seen in fairy tales, which are all very much influenced by these religions. For example, in sleeping beauty, drugs are replaced by a kiss to bring snow white out of a trance. This drug related mind control is in the game, The illuminati also have satanic rituals, some for the purpose of inserting demons into the slaves mind.
Many books and movies are used to program victims, like the wizard of oz, lord of the rings, or Alice in Wonderland. The parallels in these books (especially the wizard of oz) are very obvious. But this game! Alessa actually splits in half because of the pain and creates two personalities. A mind control victim's mind splits because of the pain and creates multiple personalities . She has a demon thing in her. And theres more than that if you think about it (which is why I explained it so much). Its a description of illuminati mind control!
this website describes it well
- Yes, but that is original research, isn't it? Not only should it not be in the article, but you should remember this talk page is not a forum. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 09:43, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Lord of the Flies?
I don't find this addition too believable. Is the only thing you're going on the conch as the Gas station sign? Cause I think when I wrote the conch shell part, it might have been a snail shell instead. --Thaddius
- I have removed this reference since I went back through the game and discovered that the 'conch' that I labelled earlier is actually a snail-shell. --thaddius
[edit] Removal of the "full plot"
The current plot is untrue... it's also very messy. I'm going to remove it, there are so many different theories of how the plot really goes there can't be just one "full" theory, and there's too many theories to put them all down. If someone disagrees and thinks the plot should stay, please state why, keep in mind that you thinking this plot theory is correct is not a valid reason. Code E 05:46, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- It looks like someone took aspects of the Film's plot and superimposed them on the game's plot. --Thaddius 16:00, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- I looked into it and some of that info was revealed in the Boy Scenario in the Silent Hill Play Novel for GBA. But it still shouldn't be there. --Thaddius 16:38, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Audry Jr.
Someone keeps changing the name Audry Jr. to Audry II in the pop culture references section. In the original Little Shop of Horrors the plant is called Audrey Jr. The sign in Silent Hill also says Audrey Jr. Please stop changing it. --Thaddius 16:08, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- Quote from The Little Shop of Horrors:
- "The Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of a nerdy young florist's assistant named Seymour Krelboyne, an employee of Gravis Mushnik's Skid Row Florist Shop in Los Angeles. The incompetent Seymour is about to be fired by Mr. Mushnik when Audry, another employee, urges him to bring out a mysterious new strain of plant that he's been tinkering with. Seymour, who has a secret crush on Audry, names the mysterious plant after her. Mushnik gives Seymour one week to see if the "Audry Jr" plant improves his lacklustre business."
- Changed link from Little Shop of Horrors (disambiguation) to The Little Shop of Horrors (page on the 1960 film). As Mike Nelson notes, yes, there is a "the" in the original title (and the plant in Corman's classic was named Junior, not "2"). (Ibaranoff24 00:13, 13 June 2006 (UTC))
-
- Someone keeps changing it and they're anonymous. It's rather annoying. --Thaddius 02:24, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 'Official' Ending
Someone keeps changing the endings senction to say that one of the game's endings is the 'official' one acording to Konami. Post the reputable link with the article where you're getting this info and we'll review it, otherwise, stop posting it. --Thaddius 12:59, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
It's definately oneof the good endings (as it has to lead on to SH3), but I couldn't say which one. Another thing about endings: I watched them on YouTube, and the descriptions here for the good endings seem quite off. There's no mention of the Nurse or anything, and I don't remember him turning to camera thinking 'this isn't right'! --JaffaCakeLover 31:39, 2 September 2006 (GMT)
Ah, you're right there is no mention of Lisa grabbing ahold of Kauffman, I'll add that in a minute. As for Harry's thoughts I guess it probably shouldn't be there. He definally does look around, looking rather confused but it doesn't nessesarily mean he's thinking "this isn't right". That comment makes it seem like it's the wrong ending, but as far as I'm aware there is no true ending. I too have read about one of the endings being "confirmed" in Silent Hill 3, but I also heard there were many loose ends that didn't truly confirm it. But, Having not played Sh3 yet I wouldn't know for sure. Code E 23:44, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- Having done further reading you're right JaffaCakeLover, won't say the reasons why on this talk page as it's a spoiler to SH3, but they do have good reason for adding that it is the "official" ending Thaddius. Code E 00:20, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Konami themselves have stated that there is no 'official' ending and that each ending is it's own unique story arc. For that reason there is no 'official' endings because they all are 'official'. When I added the endings I had Lisa in there but someone seems to have removed it at some point. No idea why. --Thaddius 17:53, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deleting random info?
A user at IP 68.57.135.143 keeps deleting large portions of the article for no apparent reason. Sign your changes or mark them here. What you're doing is considered vandalism. --Thaddius 11:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Clearly it's you FlareNUKE who has been doing this. You've done the same on nearly every SH page. Justify your reasons here or stop doing it. --Thaddius 02:02, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Don't be ridiculous, that's was not my IP when I deleted it! Do not make such accusations! Anyways, the reason I deleted SOME PARTS of the TRIVIA section was because that same trivia was in every Silent Hill article, nobody wants the same info, so I thought it would go better on the main Silent Hill page. --FlareNUKE 07:05, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry of accusing you, but you were known to have been deleting things all over. I realized after I posted all that that I might have been wrong. The random IP guy left everything disjointed. The fact reamins though that you did delete stuff here without discussing it or justifying it. Please don't delete anything else without mentioning it in the history or at least discussing it here. --Thaddius 15:15, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Play Novel
I'm wondering if we can get a detailed explaination of the Silent Hill: Play Novel as so far the description only mentions the Sping Boy Scenario and that you can 'use' Cybil in the game. I'm aware that it retells the original game and that it has a story for Cybil, which was supposed to be in the original game, but was scrapped before release, and that there are 4 scenarios for Andy, but I know no specific details. Any help would be much appreciated. --Thaddius 14:35, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Michael G
Does anyone have any source on who this guy is? It's pretty obvious "Michael G" is a fake name to get around union rules. I've heard rumblings that it's Thom Huge who played Jon on "Garfield and Friends" (believe it or not). Anyone know? Thedoorhinge 19:16, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Erm, what does this have to do with this game? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 21:05, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- Michael G is the actor credited as Harry Mason in Silent Hill; Harry is the main character. Thedoorhinge 13:58, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have found nothing to verify that Michael G isn't his name. It is certainly possible that it is a 'fake union related name' but there's no sources on this, sadly. --Thaddius 13:08, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Compatibility Issues
On PS3, the original Silent Hill has a sound glitch. Whenever you shoot an enemy, the game's sound is replaced by a loud buzzing noise that doesn't stop until you go to another area or certain animations play. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.30.107.86 (talk) 05:07, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Silent Hill front.jpg
Image:Silent Hill front.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] WP:VG assessment
Definitely in the upper regions of Start-Class, but there are still a few issues which are preventing this article from getting further:
- Lead needs expansion per WP:LS: summarise the whole article in two or three paragraphs.
- Could do with more citations: WP:CITE.
- There are a lot of one- and two-sentence paragraphs throughout the article, particularly in the Reception section. Try merging some of these together as the brevity of these paragraphs makes the article less smooth to read.
- External links in the Influences section need to be converted into in-line citations thingies.
- Any information for a Development section? Given the age of the game it wouldn't surprise me if no information was available on the Internet, but you never know.
- The plot section seems unfinished: you should summarise the entire story rather than give a back-of-the-box-style blurb.
- Reception section could do with expansion. Have a look at some articles at WP:VG#Example articles to get an idea of how to do this.
Expansion of the plot and Reception section along with more references would get this article up to B. Hope this helps, Una LagunaTalk 12:37, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
