[edit] Biography
Michelotto was born in Turin, Italy, the son of a local procurator. He studied at the famed Institute Montana and graduated from the Sorbonne, France, in the field of government. He holds a Ph.D. from Cambridge University in International Relations.
In 1985, he became Italian Ambassador to France. After five years in this post, he went on to create a private security firm called Michelotto Associates. It earned a reputation by supplying over two-thousand civilian contractors to the Gulf War. It also contributed to the War in Kosovo, and then to the War on Terror in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is now the second largest privately owned security firm in the world.
Recently, in a surprise move, Michelotto has stepped down from his positions after suspicions of fraud. He currently lives in Vienna, where rumor has it he has started another firm.
