Silvestre Manuel Gonçalves Varela, (born February 2, 1985 in Almada) is a Portuguese football player in the forward position, who currently plays for Recreativo de Huelva of La Liga.

A product of Sporting Clube de Portugal's youth teams, Varela has been loaned to a number of Portuguese clubs. Despite being a regular in the Portugal national under-21 football team and having enjoyed a decent form at various tournaments, he was not able to secure a place in Sporting's first team, thus spending from 2005-07 on loan at Vitória de Setúbal. In 2007-08 he, alongside two former Sporting players, Beto and Carlos Martins, will play for Recreativo de Huelva in Spain (Varela on loan again).
