Silberne Peitsche
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Silberne Peitsche is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1,300 metres (approximately 6½ furlongs) at Weidenpesch Racecourse, Cologne in August.
It was originally run at Gelsenkirchen over 1,400 metres, and became a Listed race in 1983. The distance increased to 1,450 metres in 1998, and was then cut to 1,200 metres in 2000. The race moved to its present venue in 2002, and in 2007 it was promoted to Group 3 status and extended to 1,300 metres.
