I agree. The Sikh Regiment appears to have more historical information than Sikh Regiment. However, both contain pertinent facts. I think Sikh REgiment should be merged into The Sikh Regiment and a redirect created. Rob cowie 17:12, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

I think what this page needs now is the insignia of the regiment. - Mayuresh 11:59, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Is the Sikh Light Infantry and The Sikh Regiment one in the same? --NuclearZer0 17:48, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Renaming article, histories swapped

Hi. I just completed a move of this article from The Sikh Regiment to Sikh Regiment, per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (definite and indefinite articles at beginning of name), and per a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves. There was a non-trivial history at Sikh Regiment, containing the history of content that was merged from that title to the main article at The Sikh Regiment. Now that the main article is at Sikh Regiment, I've moved the history that was previously here to The Sikh Regiment, so if anybody's looking for the content that was merged in, that's where it is now. -GTBacchus(talk) 00:37, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A Brief History

I wish to redo a brief history of the Sikh regiment. Anyone want to give me a direction in what they should believe it should be in the summary.

[edit] War Cry Translation

The translations of the war cry in the info box and in the body text differ slightly. Although they are probably both quite valid, one of them should be changed to make the article internally consistent. Epeeist smudge 13:11, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Creation of a Sikh Regiment within the British Army

I was wondering if it would be appropriate to add a small section on the high level talks that were going on within the UK about the possibility of setting up a Sikh regiment (recruited from the British Sikh community) in the modern British Army. This had the support of UK Sikh community leaders, the military top brass and of high profile individuals such as the Prince of Wales.

[edit] Strong claims, weak sources

There have been some discussions on fr: about this article. It is clear that the battle of Saragarhi is probably never mentioned in French schools nowadays. I imagine it is possible that it was indeed mentioned "as part of the syllabus on heroic valour" before or during WWI, but such a claim should only be reintroduced if backed-up by credible historical sources citing French primary sources. The other problem is the purported list of eight stories of collective bravery published by UNESCO. While there are numerous Indian sources claiming that the battle is part of it, the list itself is nowhere to be found. Presenting this claim as fact would require that the list were exactly referenced.

Both claims are present on numerous Web sites, but often together and always with very similar wording, and without any additional details. To me, this looks very much like a hoax or urban legend, fabricated to bolster the significance of the battle and picked up because it flatters Indian nationalism. _R_ (talk) 11:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
