Why are they called SIGNY awards? What does SIGNY stand for?

Signy was a "Heroine/Damsel in Distress" from Scandanavian mythology, which was the basis for Wagners "Valkyrie" operas.

The SIGNY's were presented by the www.Whitelord.cz site in Czech Republic which went down in 2005, never to be heard from again. Because I was interested, I have done a lot of research on the recipients, and have filled in most of the SIGNY award table/matrix at http://www.backdrop.net/sm201/index.php?title=SIGNY_Award , with the balance to be finished during Mar 2007. Since it is "original research", it doesn'y fit the Wikipedia standards.

Similar awards called The Gwennies will be presented in 2007 --Robin Roberts 07:04, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I just noticed that someone has recently gone through the lists and replaced actual SIGNY winners with fake people or fake winners. Be on the lookout for this sort of subtle vandalism.

Why is this page marked "low imporance"? The SIGNYs were a big deal and many of the models and riggers and others who one still make reference to them on their own web pages and press info. AVN articles will often mention a SIGNY award if the person they are quoted won or did very well.

Is it called "low importance" simply because it involves the bdsm and fetish communities? That is a small part of the adult industry as a whole, but that still contains a lot of performers and quite a few fans. The SIGNYs are hardly a minor thing within the community of interest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.37.197.98 (talk) 19:00, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, the Wikipedia:WikiProject Pornography/Assessment#Importance scale tries to roughly consider the importance of the article to pornography as a whole. But if this is the most important award within the BSDM field, it is probably more important than "low". Can you give a reference that says that? (Ideally, a Wikipedia:Reliable source, but say why you think so anyway. Who says it's the most important?) We can probably add that statement and the reference to the actual article as well, that's the most important thing; the project rating is no big deal, it's only to help out people writing the actual articles. That's why it's on the article talk page. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 19:13, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

There is a new site that seems to be picking up the awards again, at least it has similar categories. The Bondage Awards, http://www.bondageawards.com Prattw (talk) 21:49, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Gwennies

There is a reference here to The Gwennies, but the only references to them I can find are this page, and the equivalent of this page on Wipipedia, so are there any links or anything to it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.202.245.248 (talk) 13:19, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
