Sigmund von Erlach

Sigmund (or Sigismund) von Erlach may refer to two members of the influential von Erlach family of Berne, Switzerland:

  • Sigmund von Erlach (1614 - 1699); General of Bernese troops in the Swiss peasant war of 1653 and in the First War of Villmergen in 1656; Schultheiss (mayor) of Berne from 1675 on
  • Sigmund von Erlach (1671 - 1722); Swiss military commander, first in the service of the French king and then as an officer of the Hundertschweizer Swiss Guard at the court of Frederick I of Prussia
