SIGNIS, also known as World Catholic Association for Communication, is a non-profit organization formed by the merger of Office Catholique Internationale du Cinema (OCIC) and Unda in November 2001; it unites radio, television, cinema, video, media education, Internet and new technology professionals around the world and has representation from over 140 countries.
The organization's diverse programmes cover fields that include the promotion of films and television programmes (juries at important festivals: Cannes, Berlin, Monte Carlo, Venice and Ouagadougou), the creation of radio, video and television studios, production and distribution of programmes, supplying specialized equipment and training of professionals.
SIGNIS has advisory statutes with UNESCO, Economic and Social Council (United Nations in Geneva and New York) and the Council of Europe. The Vatican has officially recognized SIGNIS as a Catholic organization for communication.

OCIC was a professional film organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of motion pictures. It was first established at the Hague in 1928 and had offices in many Asian countries.
