Sierra Foothills Shakespeare Festival
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sierra Foothills Shakespeare Festival is a non-profit educational theatre organization based in El Dorado Hills, California.
The festival's first production, Romeo and Juliet, launched on June 9, 2006 on a replica Elizabethan stage at the outdoor amphitheater of Folsom High School constructed specifically for the event.
The festival draws from local El Dorado Hills/Folsom and Bay Area talent, and features both seasoned and new performers.
The festival's primary endeavor is to breathe life into William Shakespeare's legacy on a traditional Elizabethan stage while educating and entertaining the audience. Productions abide by the traditional style of the work as the organizers feel it should be represented: no altering of the Bard's language, no modern adaptation that can cloud the intent or story of the plays.
