[edit] Category format

I use this format:
Subname
Hindu movements and organizations
but it comes up error" "Hindu movements and organizations" - no 'category:" appears
please advise- thanks
- Remove the first colon in the template. It should be . --Evb-wiki 19:59, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks - still not showing/error notice.
I cut/pasted your link and added article name
and tried
Still no category shows and error notice is there...???
- Sorry. I had already fixed it. BTW - please review Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thanks.--Evb-wiki 21:08, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
I dont understand - nothing shows up and cleanup error is at top of page I've read over the tutorial pages for categories and still Im perplexed. Thanks Babaji108 21:28, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- The category "Hinduism" is there. It's in the box at the very bottom of the page with the other cats. It reads as follows:
-
- Categories: Cleanup from September 2007 | All pages needing cleanup | Hinduism
- --Evb-wiki 21:32, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cleanup tag
OK great - but then can you explain why there is the cleanup message at the top of the page ; and a link from the Hinduism category page? It seems something is awry...Babaji108 21:42, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. (1) The cleanup message is there because this article needs a lot of work. See Wikipedia's manual on style. (2) The links the article to the hinduism category page. --Evb-wiki 21:51, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Wow, thats a lot of style info. Thanks for your kind feedback; I'll try to decipher Wikipedia's manual on style. Babaji108 21:56, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Ive added ital to books, and bold the first use of the article, and standardized the book references. Still there is the clean up logo. Might you be so kind as to point out the areas that I need to amend and I will search specifically in the manual for this...obviously I am missing something. Many thanksBabaji108 22:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Sure. (1) The intro paragraph should provide additional context, so a person with no knowledge of the subject can understand what the article is about. I'm still not real sure, and I've read the entire article. (2) The article should be more narative, with complete sentences, avoiding bullet points where possible. (3) Much of the article relies on some knowledge of Hinduism for context and clarity. It needs to be accessible to a lay person.
- Just a few thoughts. You done well so far. --Evb-wiki 23:10, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Many thanks for your useful feedback. I was looking for technical (eg, punction) errors because of the cleanup error box at the top of the page. I do know the article needs to be fleshed out, it was the first pass to get the basics down. It is good to know to aim more for the lay person. Peace Babaji108 23:18, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
If you have a moment to review the amended page, it is quite fleshed out. I would appreciate your fresh eye to tell me if it is speaking to the layman or something still remains a question to you. Many thanks. Peace Babaji108 03:53, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- I see you've been working more on it. Remember, information added to an article must be verifiable, and specific facts included must be attributed to a reliable source. Articles should not contain original research. Also, be careful. You need to present the information from a neutral point of view and not as an advocate or an advertisement. --Evb-wiki 13:02, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback, I'll filter the writing again with these ideas in mind. Babaji108 13:41, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Regarding the tone of the article, as an example, the intro should read something like,
- Siddhayoga is a traditional school and methodological linage taught in some Hindu sects.
- I'm guessing because I'm still not real clear if that's what Siddhayoga is. --Evb-wiki 13:56, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I am truly appreciating your guidance to make this article more appropriate for Wiki. A lot has been cleaned up, formatted, standardized, fleshed out, documented and neutralized. Are there any areas that continue to need refining? Peace Babaji108 16:13, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Have completed the major work of this page and am grateful for all the feedback. If the page is now considered 'cleaned up', how may we remove the clean up box atop the page? If more cleanup is required, cite areas I can address Many thanks Babaji108 16:15, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] propose merge with Siddha Yoga
There appears to be two articles discussing this topic. The titles are the same, except one splits the term into two words. I suggest the two articles be merged by someone familiar with the topic. --Evb-wiki 22:47, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- This sounds like a good idea if the article is fully expanded to include all siddhayoga traditions. For example Hinduism Today frequently reports on major South Indian Siddha lineages. They have also mentioned various smaller groups, and this merger would give them the change to be known. Your idea is also good because it will give a truer understanding of the impact siddhayoga has in the world today. But to be clear, these are two very different sects/lineages, so if that is the criterion, then no, it is best they remain separate --Babaji108 01:23, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
-
- If these are two different sects, as User:TheRingess had stated on the Siddha Yoga talk page, then we should probably leave them seperate. I thought they were discussing the same movement. --Evb-wiki 01:51, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- That is one of the reasons for creating this page, to help clarify the confusion and affirm there are other siddhayoga --Babaji108 02:05, 4 September 2007 (UTC)sects.

[edit] Added citations
Have added 5 citations to the 'About Siddhayoga' section as per the box requesting more citations. If they are adequate, how can that box be removed; if they are not adequate, please educate me some more on what is required. Many thanks to all who are so kind to take time and effort to clean up this site and explain things to me.
- Wiki is quite an amazing concept - very similar to Vedic ideals - eg everyone gets heard, fairness and even-handedness, even Yoga Vani is written with copious citations to original Vedic texts... there's a lot in common between Wiki and Vedic... --Babaji108 00:19, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
