Sidney is a village in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,062 at the 2000 census.

Sidney is located at 40°1′28″N, 88°4′22″W (40.024409, -88.072689)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.4 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,062 people, 422 households, and 297 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,995.7 people per square mile (773.7/km²). There were 438 housing units at an average density of 823.1/sq mi (319.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.65% White, 0.38% African American, 0.28% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.47% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.38% of the population.

There were 422 households out of which 37.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.4% were non-families. 23.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.99.

In the village the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $51,563, and the median income for a family was $55,987. Males had a median income of $37,188 versus $27,717 for females. The per capita income for the village was $21,425. None of the families and 0.9% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 5.1% of those over 64.
