Siddapur is located at 14.20° N 74.53° E^[1]. It has an average elevation of 564 metres (1853 feet).

As of 2001 India census^[2], Siddapur had a population of 14,049. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Siddapur has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 72%. In Siddapur, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. Languages spoken here are Havyaka, Kannada and Konkani.

Mostly Havyaks, Gaud Saraswats, Christians, and Muslims inhabited the town of Siddapur.

The main occupation of the residents of Siddapur is agriculture. Supari (Arecanut) is the primary business of the people. Other than arecanut, commodities like paddy, coffee, pineapple, cardamom, pepper and vanilla are also grown.

Siddapur is about 400 km from Bangalore. The nearest airport is located in Hubli, about 130 km away. Also, the nearest railway station is at Talguppa, about 15 km away. KSRTC has newly started the service of volvo (A/C) Bus Daily to Siddapur from Bangalore via Sagar.
