[edit] Wall of Sound

The Wall of Sound consists of three concert bands (Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble), 2 Jazz Ensembles and a 175-member Marching Band. According to Principal Jake Russel, the Wall of sound is the pride and joy of Sickles High School. Steadily growing since the school opened in 1997, The Wall of Sound continually strives to present fun and entertaining half-time performances for the Sickles High School football games. In 2008, the Wind Ensemble received an overall 'Excellent' at states, a first state appearance for the Wall of Sound. The Sickles Drumline is the most featured attraction at any event. Consisting of an elite group of drummers, the only way to make it on the "line" is to participate in the summer auditions.

[edit] Orchestra

In the past years the Sickles High school orchestra has made straight superiors at the annual MPA and has scored highly at States.[citation needed] Many members of the Sickles orchestra participate in the UT music program; about 95% of Sickles student who try out are successful.[citation needed]

In 2006 the Boys' Basketball team posted a 24-4 record, won the district 6A-7 Championship, and hosted their first ever FHSAA state regional quarterfinal game against Lakeland High School.[citation needed] In 2007, they repeated this feat as district 6A-7 champs.[citation needed] Beating Sarasota High at home they won their first state tournament in 7 years.[citation needed] They then played Dr. Phillips High (Orlando) and, after losing, finished with a record of 19-8. 2008 brought another District 6A-7 championnship to Sickles. They, however, lost their first round game to Plant City High School.
