[edit] Episode recap

At the beginning of winter, Wade runs into his cousin Fred Duck, who advises him to hurry so that he can fly south for the winter. After Wade tells him that he’s afraid to fly, Fred calls him a chicken and leaves. Wade is then determined to fly, so he climbs to the top of a ladder -- but he quickly chickens out.

Spring comes, and Orson gives everyone a bunch of balloons to celebrate, but Wade doesn’t take any because winter went by without his learning how to fly. Orson then turns the tractor on to begin spring plowing, but then it starts going uncontrollably. Bo tells Wade to help him help Orson, but Wade says that he can’t even help himself, so Bo gives him his balloons to hold. Booker and Roy do the same thing, and the strength of the balloons cause Wade to drift off into the air.

Fred flies past Wade, and Wade quickly lets go of the balloons and grabs Fred for safety, and the combined weight cause both of them to plummet toward the ground. After a few moments, a parachute emerges from Fred’s backpack, and they land on the tractor. The backpack slows the speed of the tractor, which lets Orson reach the ignition and pull the key out just as Bo, Booker and Roy reach them.

Wade expresses surprise at Fred using a parachute when he flies, and Fred tries to disguise the fact that he is also afraid of flying; Wade then attests that he wouldn’t be afraid if Fred would sell him the parachute. Later, Wade is wearing the backpack as he stands on a ladder painting the side of the barn, but the ladder quickly tips and Wade falls off -- but the parachute pops out and brings him down to safety. Orson remarks that the following week, Wade could possibly climb four feet high.

[edit] Quotes

Orson: What’s wrong, Wade?
Wade: I’m afraid of snow. It’s cold, and there are avalanches and blizzards
Orson: You don’t like sun because of sunburns and rain because of floods.
Wade: That’s right. Couldn’t we just have no weather at all?

Wade: Everyone thinks I’m a coward, and I resent it.
Orson: Wade, you are a coward.
Wade: That’s why I resent it.
