[edit] Yakumo Mutsu's Fighting Style
To everyone who has ever seen the anime Shura No Toki; the "Mutsu Enmei Ryu" fighting style is, in reality, Kyokushinkai Karate, the style inveted by Masatatsu Oyama. To find out more about that particular style, you can look up right here on Wikipedia. Read the article on that particular style of Karate, and if possible, watch videos of its Sparring matches and other demonstrations. Then watch the anime again. A lot of the throws Yakumo and sons use in that anime ressemble what one learns in Judo (elements of which were incorporated into Kyokushin). Most of his strikes can be found universally in all Karate styles, and many of his kicks come straight ouf ot Tae Kwan do. And yes, like all Karate styles, a lot of the dodging Yakumo does comes straight of one of the many traditional Okinawan styles.
Pardon my lack of formality here, but, the Mutsu Enmei Ryu style is just Karate being presented under a different name. The style in question, is Kyokushin, which is kind of funny because the begining of the anime takes place 500 years before Kyokushin was even invented. lol. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.63.78.98 (talk) on 9 February 2007
[edit] Mutsu Fighting Style =
First its obvious that Yakumo style is Okinawan Karate. Which is the root
of all karate including kyokushin and korean karate which is known as tae kwan do. Second, Okinawan is part of japan so,it is no problem learning jujitsu and understand the principals of body movements there. It was a period when those in okinawa could carry swords but then the emperor banish sword carrying and the samurai's there had to figure a way to fight using other means. Thus using their body as a tool and weapon. Overhead chop to the head or shoulder resemble a sword striking down. All movements of karate derived from sword movements. Kata's and movements unlock all history when paying close attention. Judo, akido, and most throwing styles is derived form jujitsu and is less violant. I am only refering to japanese styles.
Jujitsu is a form of tackling down opponents and locking their joints
or breaking them. You can use an oppenant strength against them. All countries have their own way of during this. Showing that the martial art spirit can be realized though some sort of enlightment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arcwarrior (talk • contribs) 09:35, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
