Shuttleworth College is a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school in Burnley, Lancashire.

[edit] History

The school was formed from the former Gawthorpe High School in September 2006 as part of the first wave of a nationwide 10-15 year programme of capital investment funded by the Department for Education and Skills called Building Schools for the Future. It currently occupies the nearby site of the former Habergham High School sixth form centre, while its new buildings, which are scheduled for completion in time for the 2008-2009 academic year, are under construction.

[edit] Attainment

In 2007, 26% of Year 11 students achieved 5 A*-C GCSE passes including English Language and Mathematics (national average 46.7%).[1] The school's value-added measure was 965.8 (national average 1000), which placed it in the bottom 5% nationally for adding value between the end of Key Stage 2 and the end of Key Stage 4.[2] It is currently in special measures.[3]
