Coordinates: 23°24′N 76°43′E / 23.4, 76.72 Shujalpur is a city and a municipality in Shajapur district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. City has a great history attached to itself.Ranoji Rao Shinde, father of Mahadji Shinde(Scindia), died in 1745 at Shujalpur, where his cenotaph (chattri) stands which houses a Shiv temple.It is known as Ranoganj.It is also said that "Tropic of Cancer" passes through this Shiv temple.

Sujalpur boasts of one of biggest Mandi(market)[Class'A'] of Madhya Pradesh.

The renowned spiritual guru and social reformer Shri. Bhaiyyuji Maharaj, was born and brought up in Shujalpur. He has formed an organisation named Satguru Datta Dharmik Evam Parmarthik trust, Indore to materialise his mission towards upliftment of the women and the poor. His various projects include water shed management.disaster management, upliftment of the poor and draught affected farmer, aid to the economically weaker school going children. He is addressed as Rashtra Sant or the Saint of the nation and has a wide following in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Shujalpur is located at 23.4° N 76.72° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 448 metres (1469 feet). The city falls in the Malwa region.Two rivers namely, the Nevaj and Jamdad flow through the city.

Shujalpur lies on the Ujjain-Bhopal WR-CR link. There are regular trains plying to Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Patna, Trivendrum, Coimbatore, Cochin, Nagpur, Jammu and other major cities.

As of 2001 India census[2], Shujalpur had a population of 42,465. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Shujalpur has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 61%. In Shujalpur, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.People here speak Malvi(a local dialect of Hindi) and Hindi.

Shujalpur is legislative assembly constituency. Bal Krishna Sharma "Navin" who was one of the great poets of modern India belongs to this place. The city has also a rich political history, First Prime-Minister (as then it was called) of Madhya Bharat late Pandit Liladhar Joshi belonged to this city. The Renowned Geographer Pro. S. C. Dixit, developed the college. The main contribution of Prof. Dixit was to create the higher education culture among the people of M.P..
