The Shrew's fiddle is a non-stationary pillory generally used for punishing women until the nineteenth century. It was also used in the United States during slavery. The device consists of a hinged board, like a pillory, but not stationary. It has a hole for the head and in front of this two holes, lined up, one for each wrist. Due to the sizes of the holes, the larger one for the head, the device is shaped like a fiddle.
Today the device is used by practitioners of BDSM.
