[edit] Fairy Godmother
Also noteworth was Jennifer Saunders of "French and Saunders" and "Absolutely Fabulous" as the Fairy Godmother.
- Fantastic amount of movie trivia we picked up here! - Ta bu shi da yu 07:19, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] The Legend of Zelda
There exists no reference, just a painting of a green blurr on a horse in the King's bedroom. Can somebody delete it?
There should be a headline in this article, called "Plagiarism". The painting of Link riding Epona in this movie was plagiarism towards Nintendo. --PJ Pete
THERE IS NO PROOF THE GREEN BLUR IS LINK! SHREK, FIONA, AND A WHOLE TON! AND THAT IS NOT PLAGIARISM! THE SIMPSONS TALKS ALOT ABOUT SPONGEBOB AND THAT IS NOT PLAGIARISM! IT IS A CULTURAL REFRANCE!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.87.62 (talk) 00:39, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Puss's Eyes
In one trivia it says there is a RE/MAX balloon in puss's eyes when he givews his sad look..i've seen none!
I can't find a balloon either. However, when the King meets Puss, when the camera is up close to his eyes, you can see someone's face in it. I don't know who it is, but it's not the King. Vinyourg 20:57, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I've not found any pictures online of it, and the image of Puss putting on his cute face is quite popular. Willing to say it's a hoax. 216.176.105.92 21:14, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Indiana Jones
What about the part where Puss reaches under the door that's closing to grab his hat much like in 3 of the indiana jones movies...?
[edit] The Demolition Man
The scene of escaping the Fairy Godmother's factory slightly resembles the final battle in the Demolition Man movie, as Shrek and his companions avoid the spilled potion much in the same way as John Spartan avoids being frozen. Is it a coincidence or should it be added to 'movie references'? Elenthel 22:40, 29 September 2005 (UTC)
I think that should be added to 'movie references'. 68.94.200.122 19:54, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
I think not, considering it's a REALLY loose connection and is not unique to Demolition Man--the prospect of there being some harmful substance on the ground that characters must avoid by keeping off the floor is not original--Who Framed Roger Rabbit? had something similar. -Mance 05:46, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Donkey learns French?
Where does THAT come from? Thanos6 07:08, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
absolutely no idea. i'm deleting it. PrinceCharming 00:39, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Two Beauty and the Beast reference listings
There seem to be two listings for the bit where the two elves at the Fairy Godmother factory turn into a godfather clock and candlestick. I think the first should be deleted. Zooba 13:59, 5 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Movie Trivia
I think there is way too much movie trivia. ЄИЄЯפЇЄ 05:14, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed. I mean, come on, is it really worth noting that the word "ass" is used?
[edit] Inconceivable!
In the references section, under an image there is:
Shrek and his princess bride, Fiona.
which seems to imply similarities with The Princess Bride. I can see similarities, but isn't it slightly original research? Andjam 02:12, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Isn't Fiona both Shrek's bride and a princess? I think its just a coincidence. Atropos 04:23, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- Shrek has many similarities to The Princess Bride. Some scenes are nearly identical (heroes invading the castle, heroes fighting inside the halls).
[edit] Cleanup
To put it frankly, the article is in serious need of clean-up--at the present, it looks a lot more like a fan synopsis than an encyclpedic article. -Mance 00:31, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- I did a major revision on the plot section and tried to shrink the cast section, but the article is a mere 1 KB under the preferred maximum size. In my opinion, a lot of people can be cut from the cast list (all of the 'extras'), and the trivia section could use a LOT of trimming--some of the entries are good, but a lot are just big stretches.Mance 05:36, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lewis Black
Probably not a good enough connection to go in, but I always saw the Farbucks across the street from the Farbucks as a reference to Lewis Black's "End of the Universe" routine: "But, no. There was a Starbucks across from a Starbucks. And that, my friends, is the end of the universe." I enjoyed it anyway. :)
-
- I love the bit, but you were right in thinking it was too big of a stretch. The complaint of starbucks being in close proximity is fairly common.Mance 09:56, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia
Actually, Sir Justin wasn't a reference according to the DVD commentary, they did it before they knew they were dating and then when they found out asked permission if it was alright to still use it. ~Cherries Jubilee
[edit] Contenuity
the entry "Pinocchio rewinds the live TV show" He may have TIVO (or for Shrek's world Thee-vo) that allows this funtion. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.164.202.130 (talk) 18:53, 12 April 2007 (UTC).
- Yes - it seems to be an odd classification calling this a continuity error. It's essential to the scene, and it very deliberate. I'll take it out of the page. YojimboSan 05:13, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Be Good
In this page it says that that line is a parody of ET, but I believe its from terminator when Arnold is getting melted. But im not sure, i could just be confused --Ninandnirvana 20:39, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] DVD
Under Parodies/References maybe some one could put a section on the DVD. On the main menu Donkey suggests new titles for the movies such as ‘Shrek 2: 2 Fast 2 Donkey’ (2 Fast 2 Furious).
[edit] Fiona's Headbutt
In the UK DVD version, at least, Fiona 'judo chops' Charming rather than headbutting him when he tries to kiss her. Was this different in other versions? Bamboo marimba 15:58, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Star Wars reference
Can someone cite which film this was from. The reference is toward the bottom of the section. Socby19 21:49, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Socby19
[edit] Miscellaneous??
"In the endgame, when Puss in Boots is fighting the castle guards, he is fighting medieval guards. Medieval guards would have been using heavy broadswords or longswords while puss is clearly using a rapier. The guards are seen using the swords one-handedly and Puss is able to parry the blows thrown by their heavy swords. " What's this all about? He's a talking bipedal cat for christ sake. If he's that much, surely super-strength isn't much of a stretch. Delete this garbage. 82.44.100.53 03:34, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Seeing as this is miscellaneous I figured I'd ask this question. Will Mongo return in any of the later movies? I think he was the best character in the movie. Without him they'd have never made it to the castle so, I think he should return is it just me that thinks this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.47.87.230 (talk) 17:46, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia
Last week I saw tons of trivia on this page and now I don't see it now so I'm very upset. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.15.79.213 (talk • contribs) 02:00, 10 July 2007
[edit] the mermaid
is the mermaid kissing shrek Ariel (the little mermaid)
- Of course!
[edit] Plot
The plot is less of a summary and more of a scene by scene recounting of the movie. Additionally, the section is in need of some moderate copy editing. Unless anyone has any serious objections, I'm going to take a crack at rewriting this plot section. Brash 19:57, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
I agree. I have seen this on a lot of movie pages. Perhaps a dictionary definition of the word "plot" should be included in every discussion page that is attached to a movie. This should clear up any confusion. Jason Keyes 16:25, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
Got tired of looking at the plot section, so I overhauled it to better fit the defintion of a plot summary. It freed up a lot of space, and it really tells you what the movie is all about. I am only to glad too help. Jason Keyes 16:36, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sabotage!
Someone has sabotaged the cast. On several places, Natalie Portman is (incorrectly) listed as the voice actress for princess Fiona. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298148/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.174.67.69 (talk) 18:58, August 30, 2007 (UTC)
- Have you fixed it then? — Val42 02:42, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notable roles
Two IP addresses (possibly the same editor) have added "notable roles" to the cast information and I've removed this both times. (The same thing's been happening at Madagascar (film).) If anyone wants to know what the actors have also appeared in, they can check the articles about the actors. It's information overload to include in that table other films that they have appeared in. The choice of other work could be controversial, with different editors disagreeing about which other films should be mentioned. Oh, and the formatting was wrong... BencherliteTalk 17:22, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Merge proposal
The part of places in Far Far Away are tabled on this article, but also on Far Far Away.
More strange, this table is more complete... I think the section should be merged, or the table on this article (Shrek 2) should be removed. Now there are 2 same tables on Wikipedia.
Right? Dr. F.C. Turner - [USERPAGE|USERTALK] - 19:52, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Music List
Thi list of music from the film is totally wrong... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.32.95.221 (talk) 11:38, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
