Shruti Sadolikar

Shruti Sādolikar (Shruti Sādolikar-Kātkar) (b. 1951) is a classical music singer of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharānā of Hindustani classical music in India [1].
Shruti hails from Mahārāshtra. At her early age, she started learning classical music from her father, Pandit Wāmanrāo Sādolikar, who was a disciple of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana founder, Ustad Alladiya Khan, and his son Ustad Bhurji Khan [2]. Shruti then trained for twelve more years under Ustad Gullubhāi Jasdanwāllā, who was renowned for his repository of rare compositions and complex Ragas of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharānā. Shruti continues to learn from Ustad Bhurji Khan's son Ustad Azizuddin Khan.
Shruti is a graduate of Mumbai University, and received her Master's degree in Music from SNDT Women's University, winning the Bhāskarbuwā Bakhle prize [3] She earned the "Sangeet Vishārad" title with distinction and is classified as a "top grade" artiste in both Akāshvāni (All India Radio) and Doordarshan TV.
Shruti has been a visiting professor at the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music in Netherlands, and has delivered lectures on and demonstrations of classical Indian music in many universities in India and abroad.
Shruti's achievements include a scholarship (1975) from Bhulābhāi Memorial Institute; the Kesarbāi Kerkar scholarship (1976 – '78) and the Homi Bhābhā Fellowship (1994 – '96), both from of The National Centre for the Performing Arts (India); and Dāgar Gharānā Sanmān from the Mahārānā Mewār Foundation of Udaipur. She has received a large number of prizes and awards, including the Shanmukha Sangeet Shiromoni Award in Year 2000.
Shruti's noteworthy contributions to Indian classical music include the Gayaki Raga and Tala. In it, she has sung twenty ragas, two each from the Ten Thaats set in Twenty Talas. She has also recorded two volumes of nineteen traditional Thumris in over Ten Talas.
Shruti is currently a visiting professor at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, and also a professor of music at SNDT College, Mumbai.
