Shri Ramachandra Bhanj Medical College

Shri Ramachandra Bhanj Medical College is a government-run medical college in Cuttack in the Indian state of Orissa.

It is the premier medical institution in Orissa and one of the oldest centers of medical teaching and training in India. The college was established on June 1, 1944. It was named in 1951 after the late Maharaja of Mayurbhanj “Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanj”. Consequently P.G. Courses in different specialties (M.D. /M.S.) were started in 1960. Since 1981, post-doctoral training leading to the award of D.M. & M.Ch. degree have also been instituted in the disciplines of Cardiology and Neurosurgery respectively. A Dental wing within the college campus imparts B.D.S. Degree under Utkal University. At present this Medical College extends facility for P.G. Training in all the 21 broad specialties which include General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Ophthalmology. In addition, Cardiology and Neurosurgery also have post-doctoral training facilities. Other super specialty disciplines like Neurology, Nephrology, clinical Hematology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Radiotherapy, Urology and Cardiothoracic surgery are also available. Recently, Open heart surgery and Vascular surgery have been performed in the department of Cardiothoracic surgery by a team of specially trained doctors with great success, which heralds a bright future and new hope for the poorer regional patients.
