Shrek is an upcoming musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, based on the 2001 DreamWorks film of the same name and the 1990 book, Shrek!, by William Steig.
The musical is scheduled to debut at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre on August 14, 2008 running through September 21. It is expected to start previews on Broadway at The Broadway Theatre on November 8, 2008, with an official Broadway opening on December 14, 2008.[1]
Playbill reported that Jason Moore will direct, and Josh Prince will choreograph. Playbill also reported that Christopher Sieber has been cast as Lord Farquaad, and Sutton Foster will portray Princess Fiona.[2] Brian D'Arcy James is announced to play the title character Shrek, with John Tartaglia as Pinocchio and Chester Gregory II as Donkey.[3]
