Shree Panchami (Devnagari:श्रीपञ्चमी) or Vasant Panchami (Devnagari:बसन्त पञ्चमी) is a Hindu festival. The festival is also celebrated by the Tantrik Buddhists in Nepal. The festival commemorates the Goddess of wisdom, Saraswati or the deity Manjushri according to Buddhism. The day is believed to be ideal for initiating the education of children. The day holds significant value for students. In Nepal, students flock to the local Saraswati or Manjushri temples and pray for education and knowledge. This day is also an auspicious day as people can perform marriage, nwran ,pasni , bartaman as these ceromanies cannot be performed in any time of year in Hindu culture. Moreover this day also marks the end of winter.
