Shredaholic is a site which provides free guitar lessons, specialising in the shred or virtuoso genre. It was created and went online on the 20th December 2004, originating out of discussions by the owners Richard Baines and Richard Niczyperowicz on the lack of websites on the internet centered around the shred guitar music genre.

The name for the website takes the literal meaning 'addicted to shred', and was one of several names suggested by Richard Nicyperowicz while the website was in its preliminary design stage. The term is not yet officially recognised in the Oxford dictionary, and no prior use of the term is apparent.

[edit] Branching out via MySpace

On the 4th January 2006, Shredaholic.com created an account with MySpace in the aim of promoting music tracks by its featured artists, and also widening public awareness of the site. The page holds 4 music tracks by artists that have been featured on Shredaholic.com (each track by a different artist), and these are changed fortnightly to provide variety and fairness.
