[edit] Categories

Hi,

when adding a more detailed category to an article, e.g., Category:Russian musical instruments, please remove the more general ones, in this case, Category:Russian music & Category:Russian folk music

What do you mean? Those categories are needed to, they should exist.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Shpakovich (talkcontribs)
  • They exist. It is a wikipedia rule: Category:Russian musical instruments is already included into Category:Russian music. Without such hierarchical arrangement categories will contain thousands of articles and become useless for search. `'Míkka>t 22:53, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Please sign your texts in talk pages by typing 4 tildas: ~~~~, which will be automatically converted into your signature similar to mine: `'Míkka>t 22:53, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok, got it. Thank you. Shpakovich (talk) 22:55, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome. You are most welcome to Wikipedia, and I hope you will continue to contribute now that you have discovered it! I noticed you created the category Category:Italian musical instruments, to which you added the piano, violin and cello (which are general musical instruments of the entire western world and beyond) and the classical guitar (also known as the "Spanish guitar"). Also, ancient Rome was not what we would call "Italian". I have nominated the category for deletion. Please don't take this as a setback, but continue editing! Best wishes, RobertGtalk 14:24, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CIS Cup

Sure the clubs mention the competition on their websites and, in fact, I'm surprised that neither Dynamo nor Zenit did it, but that doesn't yet mean that they treat it as something more than just an opportunity to play a few additional games. CIS Cup is an exhibition tournament, of course I can't be sure about Moldova and Uzbekistan, but here, the Cup hardly gets a mention in the local media. Even the biggest football website here seems to ignore it. CIS Cup is more of an exhibition tournament rather than a competitive one. BanRay 23:14, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dmytro Bortniansky

Hello, Shpakovich. Please do not move articles before getting concensus on the article's talk page. In general, one should propose a move on the article's talk page, and only move it after aquiring concesus.--Boguslav (talk) 01:39, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Crossposting

One noticeboard at a time is probably enough. Your report has been removed from WP:AIV as this is a content dispute, not blatant vandalism. --OnoremDil 13:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, havent known where it fits. To much categories. Shpakovich (talk) 13:07, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
The best place to start would be Talk:Dmitry Bortniansky, where I see you've already posted a message. The threads on the noticeboards are probably premature until discussion is given a chance. Also, please remember to assume good faith. It's entirely possible that nobody is pushing any agenda. They might just be working with different information than you. Please try discussion before making accusations. --OnoremDil 13:16, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
If you'll go thru the History page of the article you will see that every time i did this change (it's not the first time), i explained, and yet nationalists reverted it. Thats why i think that someone neutral should come and decide. Imagine for example... that a Jewish nationalist every time he sees an American Jew named Moses he changes his name to Moshe? or Simon to Shimon? Or Joshua to Yeoshua? Would you like to listen to Shaul Shmimon? It's pretty much the same case :-) I have given a rational every time i did this change, but i was reverted and offered to find a "concensus". By that logic i can revert anyone claiming he cant do it unless he reaches a concensus with me. Shpakovich (talk) 13:24, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Arab

Please stop changing images in the lead without a consensus to do so, especially to make a point. OhNoitsJamie Talk 16:17, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Egyptians

Do not put pictures of Egyptians on the Arabs page. Egyptians are not arab, and naguibe Mahfouz was not Arab. egyptians do not consider themselve arabs they are not arabized through geneaolgy so calling Egyptians arabs is not accurate even in the cia world factbook they have there ethnic grup as Egyptians not Arabs Bayoumi (talk) 17:22, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Mahfouz is an Arab, he called himself one. Copts are Egyptians, and they are not Arabs. Shpakovich (talk) 17:23, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I don't care that much about the picture issues (I think it's a distraction). Some of the comments I make are to correct misconceptions rather than to direct which pics should be included. I understand that al-Haytham and Zenobia will cause problems. Thanks for the message. -- Slacker (talk) 18:07, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Look, Shpakovich, could you please stop arguing with Bayoumi. This argument is going nowhere. You're being uncivil to him, and vice versa. Seriously, try and create some consensus on the talk page before doing anything, as otherwise you will probably be blocked for disruption. Thanks, weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 19:54, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I already forgot about him. If you havent noticed, i removed Mahfouz. You should try to understand me. I worked hours and suddenly he "nominates the image for speddy deletion" without even talking about it on the talk page! Twice i reverted him saying wait!!! Give me a minute to change and go to the talk page. And he ignored. That realy annoyed. Look at the talk page. We had a civil argument. Nothing went off without a compromise. I created an image when i'm against 3 figures to appear their. Why? A concensus decided. He didnt search for a concensus but for manipulation. Shpakovich (talk) 20:00, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I know first hand that he can be a bit uncivil (ok, very uncivil) but nominating an image doesn't immediately delete the image. Let's just put this behind us and remember what we're here for - writing an encyclopedia. weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 20:10, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
That is the only kind of deletion for images. weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 20:13, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] April 2008

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Template:Infobox Jew. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 20:50, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Me in an edit war??? For years people try to change the image but they are atacked by a few, your among them, who revert them. I made a new image and gave an explanation on the talk page, so you use the talk page. You started an edit war!!! Shpakovich (talk) 20:51, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I've asked you to propose your changes on the Talk page and let other editors comment before you unilaterally impose your preferences on the template. Your persistence in reverting two editors' restoration of the older picture is contrary to Wikipedia policy concerning consensus. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz (talk · contribs) 20:55, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Fine. Lets do a vote. Shpakovich (talk) 20:59, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WP:3RR violation

You have been blocked from editing for a short time in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating the three-revert rule . Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.

≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 21:37, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I have extended your block to an additional 48hrs, as well as blocking User:79.177.110.13‎ which you used to evade the initial block. I would suggest that you take a break, and come back later with hopefully a different attitude about editing Wikipedia. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 20:43, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

In one day i created images for three ethnic groups, two stayed, and if you block me you're really bored. So i'll offer you a game. I say a statement, you dont know if it's true, therefore, it will be not honest to block me for it, but if you prove the statement, i self-close this account (it's easy. I randomly write letters in Word. Copy them, and paste in the options as the new password. Then i dont know my own password). The statement: I am a sockpuppet, of someone who was blocked, and had a few sockpuppets, which got blocked. Clue: You could find it in the works i did in the last few days.
I can see your intelegent by the details and would probably want to know the prove, if there is one, in case you dont find one. If you wont find it, i will goive it to you, BUT you'll have to be honest and not block me for that. Shpakovich (talk) 22:06, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] A Little Note

It's generally a very bad idea to post the same incident report to three different noticeboards; it is seen as an attempt to influence something and/or get somebody in trouble. In the future, please restrict your postings to one of the noticeboards. Thank you. -Jéské (v^_^v Karistaa Usko) 22:41, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

The thing is i dont know where a complain like this belongs. And the guys there are good i said all they need is an explanation. Shpakovich (talk) 22:49, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
For an edit war? WP:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR if they've been reverting several times, or WP:Requests for page protection if the edit war is just starting (request protection, not punishment, there). -Jéské (v^_^v Karistaa Usko) 22:54, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Help

Hi! The montage in question was deleted because it included some non-free images; this generally isn't allowed for such pictures. I've uploaded a copy here and the text here, so you can do any work you need on it. Cheers, east.718 at 19:15, May 8, 2008

Awesome, thanks for the great work! I'll be undeleting the image in a couple seconds. east.718 at 19:41, May 8, 2008

[edit] Sockpuppetry case

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/M.V.E.i. (2nd) for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. LyrlTalk C 00:29, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for using multiple accounts to evade a block. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.
