[edit] Plans for Improvement

Some things we might want to add:

  • Building history
  • Graduation requirements
  • History (past principals, facility development, etc.)
  • Band History/Awards

[edit] Notable Alumni section

Should we really include details in the alumni bios (e.g. "The Office" for Wilson)? Since each of the alums has a page in Wikipedia, it doesn't seem necessary to me. I'll delete the teams/shows/etc. if no one has any strong feelings against it.

[edit] Controversy

I just reverted to remove a section on controversy. I have some qualms about a souce to a myspace page, particularly on a controversial matter. There was a mention of coverage in the school paper; perhaps it can be referenced in a careful manner. --TeaDrinker 17:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I have a copy of the article, should I scan it and upload it as a source? Zerozeek 18:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

No need, just a citation to it (and be sure that the material is limited to what is demonstrable in the article). --TeaDrinker 18:58, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
So how would I write the article with the citation? --Zerozeek 20:17, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
There is some information at Wikipedia:Citing sources. The main idea is to write only what is verifiable in the source. Thus anyone who is interested in checking a fact can look up the reference given. To cite a source, one common method is with a ref tag. The code below, which goes into the text of the article, indicates how this might be done
<ref>{{cite news
  | last =
  | first =
  | coauthors =
  | title =
  | work =
  | pages =
  | language =
  | publisher =
  | date =
  | url =
  | accessdate = }}</ref>
Fill in any information you have (like last = Smith), and leave the rest blank. At the end of the page, add <references/> under a "Notes" or "Footnotes" section at the end. There is more information on footnotes at Wikipedia:Footnotes. I would be more than happy to help with any technical aspects of the coding. The main thing is to attribute any fact to the source it comes from. Thanks, --TeaDrinker 20:46, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Band

A section should be added about the Shorecrest band program, which has been selected for numerous awards and is among the best in the state of Washington. It alone among high schools in Washington was picked to play at President Bush's inauguration. It also has played in the Rose Bowl, the Holiday Bowl, and placed first in many local parades. It often competes in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Ireland, taking first multiple times.
