Showgrounds Train Station is a Transperth train station 8.6km from Perth Train Station, in Western Australia, on the Fremantle Line. It is opposite the Claremont Showgrounds, and is used only during special events, including the Perth Royal Show

[edit] History

Prior to its current position, the station was located some 600m upline towards Perth, just east of the Ashton Avenue Bridge on the site of the former Loch Street Station.[citation needed] The former location was constructed in 1906 after the relocation of the showgrounds from Guildford to Claremont, and consisted of a two platform configuration with free standing passenger shelters and small administration/storage rooms for staff operating the station during Royal Show week.[citation needed]
