Showboat Atlantic Ciy is a New Orleans themed casino located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In 1998, the property was purchased by and currently is owned & operated by Harrah's Entertainment, the company sold off its sisters in Las Vegas (Showboat Las Vegas renamed Castaways hotel and casino) and Showboat East Chicago (was renamed Harrah's East Chicago and was later sold to Resorts International and renamed Resorts East Chicago). Harrah's would later added Caesars Atlantic City and Bally's Atlantic City in 2005 when the company acquired Caesars Entertainment Inc . It was the most northernmost casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, Revel Entertainment is building its first casino resort next to it (making the northernmost casino resort). The property contains the House of Blues (HOB) restaurant and has suites under the House of Blues name. In May 2003, the Showboat hotel added a new 544 room, $90 million dollar tower called the Orleans Tower, which houses the HOB Suites. In 2007, the hotel remodeled it's Bourbon Tower (original tower). The hotel consists of eight restaurants including the Canal Street Bread & Sandwich Company, Mansion Cafe, French Quarter Buffet, and others. It has sister properties in the middle of the boardwalk, Bally's, Caesars and Harrah's located in the mirina district.
