Shout! Factory
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shout! Factory is an entertainment company founded in 2002 and which was started by Richard Foos (co-founder of Rhino Records), Bob Emmer (former Warner Music Group and Rhino executive) and Garson Foos (former Rhino executive) initially as a specialty music label. It focuses on enriched music catalog reissues, home video/DVD projects, and television properties.
Conceived as a retro pop culture label, Shout! Factory DVD projects include live music shows (by acts such as X, The Blasters, Heart, and Barenaked Ladies), music documentaries (The Fearless Freaks, about The Flaming Lips, and The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle, about The Sex Pistols), animation (including multiple Home Movies seasons, Pucca, and Code Monkeys), live-action television (Freaks And Geeks, My So-Called Life, Inside The Actors Studio), as well as productions by DIC), including Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, and Sonic the Hedgehog, and sports (including Major League Baseball and Warren Miller (director) ski titles).
Shout! Factory CD and music DVD products are distributed by Sony BMG Music Entertainment and as of June 2007 their nonmusic DVD titles are distributed by Vivendi.
Shout! Factory currently has a long term distribution deal with DIC Entertainment for most of the latter company's catalog.

GetBack Media was created in 2007 by Shout! Factory executives Richard Foos, Garson Foos, and Bob Emmer, as well as media veterans from IFILM and MTV Networks. Targeting the 35-55 year old demographic, GetBack Media is a broadband entertainment community, content aggregator, and pop culture marketplace defining the spirit of the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s. GetBack lets users rediscover popular entertainment, fashion, and pop-culture moments from their youth, and build community through easy to discover pre-populated content sets related to the music, film, TV and games of the era. GetBack will also create a marketplace for collectables, reissues, and new content from nostalgia artists
Natural Energy Lab, Shout! Factory's film and TV licensing business, is run by Danny Benair.
In 2006 Shout! Factory acquired a music television production company, Blaze Television, which produces DIRECTV's CD USA show, as well as many live music shows.
