Shoshkele
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Shoshkele is a type of floating browser ad developed by United Virtualities. [1] The name comes from the daughter of one of the company's co-founders. [2] It employs DHTML to achieve motion and the floating effect, and often incorporates sound or music. The Shoshkele was the first floating animation and it was first commercially launched back in 2001 (reference http://www.adweek.com/aw/google/article_brief/668240).
The underlying technology of the Shoshkele has dozens of pending patents around the world and granted patents in Australia (Application # 767340), South Africa (Application # 2003/2028 and # 2001/4120) and Singapore (Application # 200201917-2 )
