Shorea superba is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. The species name is derived from Latin (superbus = magnificent) and refers to the stature and elegance of the tree. It is a vast emergent tree, up to 75 m tall, found in mixed dipterocarp forest on well-structured clay soils im moist areas[1]. It is endemic to Borneo, where it is threatened by habitat loss[2]. I is found within at least four protected areas (Sepilok Forest Reserve, Danum Valley Conservation Area, Lambir Hills and Gunung Mulu National Parks)[1].
