[edit] History

Opened as an open-air mall in 1954, Shoppingtown Mall one of Syracuse's first suburban shopping centers.[citation needed] After expanding several times in the 1960s it was enclosed in 1975 and substantially remodeled in 1991.[citation needed]

Shoppingtown Mall is slated for further renovation which will demolish the portion of the mall leading from Sears to Dick's. A new main entrance will be constructed where the former Old Navy store currently stands, and a new vehicle entrance will be constructed under the Dick's store.[1]
