Shoba Purushothaman was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the President, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of The NewsMarket Inc. in New York. Shoba completed her BA in English Literature and Japanese language from Monash University (Melbourne, Australia), an MA in Economic Communication from American University (Washington D.C.) and is a 2000 graduate of the Owner-President Management program at Harvard Business School.
The NewsMarket is a pioneering broadcast news distribution service that brings newsmakers and journalists together via a single Web-based platform to create a more efficient environment for the exchange of video news content. News organizations utilizing its services include CNN, CNBC, BBC, EuroNews, Bloomberg TV and Reuters Television. Its key partners include Telestream, APTN (Associated Press Television News) and Microsoft. As of early 2007, more than 10,000 media outlets around the world were registered with The NewsMarket.
