This image of the poster for the musical Show Boat qualifies for the "fair use" exception under the copyright laws because:

• it is a low resolution image;
• it is of a historic poster that cannot be replace by a similar image; the production closed many years ago;
• the image is being used for comment and educational purposes
• the use of the image on Wikipedia will not deprive the copyright holder of any income
