Rabbi Shlomo Eliyahu Miller is a Rosh Kolel (dean) of the Kolel Avreichim institute for advanced talmud study in Toronto and head of its Beis Din (Rabbinical court). He is regarded by some portions of the Haredi Jewish community of Toronto as their foremost posek (decisor of Rabbinic law) and is one of the most prominent Poskim (decisors) in the world. He has been chosen by the Lakewood Yeshiva to head the Beis Din of the Vaad Harabanim (Association of Rabbis) of Lakewood, NJ and heads a Kolel there as well. He is described as taking a strong stand against any weakening of the rule of Halakha (Rabbinic law). Others see his opinions as overly stringent.
