[edit] Welcome

Hello,welcome to Wikipedia.

Please don't copy and paste from the web as these are violations of wikipedia and journalism. You may rewrite though. Also this is an English Wikipedia. There is a Tagalog wikipedia.

Here are some tasks you can do:

You might find these links helpful in creating new pages or helping with the above tasks: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. If you made any edits before you got an account, you might be interested in assigning those to your username. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.

Again, welcome! --Jondel 05:39, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Scottish Wikipedians' notice board

Since joining Wikipedia recently I have learnt an awful lot, and one of those things is the value of teamwork. It has become increasingly apparent to me that there are absolutely tons of people out there devoted to editing the Scottish articles, but we communicate only haphazardly. To begin to attempt to remedy this, I have initiated a notice board for all Scoto-fans!

You can find it using this shortcut: WP:SCOWNB (yes, I know that it ain't very "short", but our nordic neighbours had first call on WP:SWNB).

Please sign up and post notices, or at least Watch the page.--Mais oui! 17:23, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Eden Studios

Great work on the Eden Studios article. There is an article on Wikipedia for Eden. I set up request for your article to be merged into the other article. Web Warlock 21:24, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every Firefly article in Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow Browncoat, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Keep flyin'plange 01:10, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Illusive Arts Dorothy Volume 1 cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Illusive Arts Dorothy Volume 1 cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Re: Deleted article

Hello - regarding your question, you can find the policies at WP:PROD. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 22:44, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

  • What is the precise name of the article that was deleted? --cholmes75 (chit chat) 20:37, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
    • I took a look at the deleted article, but to be perfectly honest I don't see anything in it that would merit undeletion. However, you can submit a request on Wikipedia:Deletion review and let others decide. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 13:20, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
      • There are a number of guidelines, but the main one is WP:N. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 01:16, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Main_library_picture.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Main_library_picture.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. – riana_dzasta 04:45, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Illusive Arts & Dorothy

Thanks for that. The key for any entry is to satisfy verfiability and notability which are similar and different. The former is easy as you have to provide enough information to prove it exists, the latter is tricky as you need to show why it should be here (often they should be but it still needs proving). I've worked to try and bring quite a few smaller comics publishers up to standard and know it can be tricky. For example here is a recent one: Archaia Studios Press - it had previous been deleted so bring it back to life needed to satisfy both from the start. Reliable sources can be tricky but I've doubled checked and sites like Newsarama and Comic Book Resources are pretty solid and do provide a good range of coverage for smaller publisers. I've rather struggled to find anything other than press releases [1] [2] but they won't count. Anyway I suspect you've done enough to stave off an immediate outbreak of AfDs but I would like to bolt it down fully. I'll have a look around and see what I can find and remove the tags either way. Have a look around for interviews or review on the leading comics websites which should help sort it out.

If you need anymore help ask away or drop a note into the Comics Project. For example I see there was a bit of a problem with fair use tagging on images (a real pain at the moment) and we have an example that might help. Anyway thanks again. (Emperor 20:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:FPL floorplan.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Fpl floorplan.jpg. The copy called Image:Fpl floorplan.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 03:15, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:Illusive.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Illusive.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:18, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
