[edit] We need your vote
Hi Shinjiman. SchmuckyTheCat has recently listed category:Airports of Hong Kong and Macao on WP:CFD. We need your vote to keep the two categories. The reason was that the categories don't have much entries, and won't have much entry in the foreseeable future.
In fact, many of the subcategories of category:Airports are filled with only one article or two. To name a few, category:Airports of Aruba, Austria, the Bahamas, Bahrain, Brunei, the Cayman Islands, Kuwait, Singapore and Vanuatu. — Instantnood 07:41, Mar 17, 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks Shinjiman. Dunno if you'll be interested to say something at Wikipedia_talk:Naming conventions (Chinese)#NPOv: China, Mainland China, PRC, ROC, SAR, etc., as well as some other sections on the same talk page. :-) — Instantnood 08:21, Mar 17, 2005 (UTC)
- I've just do my best of our work to maintain the category and articles. :) --Shinjiman 10:43, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Hong Kong and Macao
Hello Shinjiman. There have been many attempts by users like Huaiwei and SchmuckyTheCat to remove Hong Kong and Macao from country listings, or to make categories of Hong Kong- or Macao- related topics subcategories of that of China, or even delete and up-merge the categories. There's also strong resistance to use the term mainland China. What do you think about these? — Instantnood 16:48, Mar 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Hi too, Hong Kong and Macau are the SAR from China, under the One Country Two Systems. You san see like some online services that can fill in Hong Kong as the country. But this problem may affects the NPOV for other people, since Huaiwei and SchmuckyTheCat are Singaporean Wikipedians. (maybe try to ask them to merge the Singapore related articles to Malaysia related articles. <-- just joking) ;-) --Shinjiman 17:02, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
They have been actively editing around and taking Hong Kong off country listings. And I don't think it's tolerable. — Instantnood 17:10, Mar 19, 2005 (UTC)
- I think so too.... I think they should consider about the deletion or rename of Category:Airports of Hong Kong and Category:Airports of Macau first to take further action to those articles. --Shinjiman 17:17, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
The same thing has already been done with List of highways, List of countries and capitals in native languages, List of subnational entities and List of countries that only border one other country. If you have time perhaps you can read also the discussion pages of Cathay Pacific destinations and Continental Micronesia, as well as on User talk:Huaiwei (#1 and #2). — Instantnood 17:35, Mar 19, 2005 (UTC)
- By their POV, why they did not put Taiwan on the subset of Mainland China? (now for time to sleep, and now feel sleepy =_=zzzzZZZZ) --Shinjiman 17:40, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- my POV is that Taiwan should be recognized as a sovereign state, actually. but that is real world wishful thinking not wikipedia. I clearly support keeping Taiwan seperate from China. But HK and Macau are prt of China, not seperate. SchmuckyTheCat 21:39, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Heaven knows.
Aren't you in the same time zone as I do? — Instantnood 18:00, Mar 19, 2005 (UTC)

- Obviously they don't have the NPOV for the Taiwan Problems, see also Political status of Taiwan and zh:台灣問題. --Shinjiman 02:23, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- He put that into that order in the list below: but supposed he do the wrong thing with that. By the Political status of Taiwan, currently, Category:Cities in Taiwan should not be a subset of Category:Mainland China by the nested categories. --Shinjiman 15:14, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)

- I am also no idea about that (Taiwan is (not) equal to ROC) :S --Shinjiman 17:36, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Through the discussion with Mababa, an active user from Taiwan, we have gradually reached the following agreement: Taiwan means the island of Taiwan and its related islands, Orchid Island, Green Island, and the Pescadores, or the area either covered by the Taiwan Province or the island of Taiwan, or both.
- Another easy way to define would be the territories of Republic of China which were used to be occupied by Japan. One more way would be ROC's territories minus Wuchiu, Quemoy, Matsu, Pratas, Taiping, etc. :-)
- That's the way how category:Townships in Taiwan and category:Townships in the Republic of China were created. — Instantnood 17:57, Mar 21, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Your vote is needed!
Hello Shinjiman. Despite the ongoing discussion at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Chinese) over the use of the terms "mainland China" and "People's Republic of China", SchmuckyTheCat and Huaiwei have listed category:Cities in mainland China, category:Companies of mainland China and category:Laws of mainland China onto Wikipedia:Categories for deletion.
Your vote is now essential and vital for the survival of these categories, and to avoid attempts to bar the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Chinese) from truly enforced. — Instantnood 20:44, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)
Update: there's also a poll at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Chinese). — Instantnood 01:03, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)
- Too confused with them, but I think the discussion of the Naming Convertions must be done BEFORE to moving the categories. :S --Shinjiman 07:18, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Agree. But it has been listed on WP:CFD anyways. Your vote is now vital to keep them survive. — Instantnood 06:28, Mar 26, 2005 (UTC)
Voted to them, but only make the changes AFTER the disputes of the Naming Convertions has been done. --Shinjiman 06:54, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Category:Drama episodes of TVB
Hello. This category is now nominated for deletion, and the person who nominated it proposed to merge it with category:Programmes of TVB. Do you think they should be merged or continue to be two categories? — Instantnood 17:58, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)
- I think that should keep that two categories to distinct between dramas or non-dramas, but the name "Drama episodes" should be rename as "Drama series" to make that thing more meaningful. :D --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 02:28, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] ACOTF: Rabbit-proof fence
Hi, I noticed that you've listed yourself as a participant at Wikipedia:WikiProject Perth. As you may or may not know, the current Wikipedia:Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight is rabbit-proof fence. It would be great if we could put a picture of the actual fence up. Just wondering if you are in a position to take such a picture at all?

As a sidenote: I notice that you've already contacted Drew (Snottygobble), who has written much of the Western Australian content on Wikipedia, but you may also want to get in touch with Shinjiman, who's put quite a lot of effort into improving our coverage of Perth-related topics.
[edit] Image:MicrosoftUpdatev6.JPG
Hey, I noticed you uploaded Image:MicrosoftUpdatev6.JPG. For screenshots, to preserve the crispness you see on screen, you might want to consider saving it in PNG format. PNG is lossless, while being compressed. Cheers. Enochlau 14:13, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
- But the original file is using the JPEG format, however the PNG format is lossless than JPG format, but the original file are recommended to uploaded. This upload is only change the wrong filename that uploaded into the correct filename. (that's the another example that recode a MP3 file from 128bit to 320bit, the file size is larger, however the quality is the same as 128bit.) --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 14:18, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing the two templates. They're sort of trial.. please let me know if you've got any great idea to improve the station articles. Thanks. — Instantnood 16:51, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
- The templates that created are great, and seems the parameters are heavily used throughout the article. And this maybe reduce the edit time using this template. :) --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 16:54, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. They do have shortcomings.. say, the platform templates are not useful for terminals.. and Central has two liveries. Perhaps we can subst: the station template for these stations and make changes accordingly. Luckily we don't have any station serving on three lines for the time being. ;-) Do you think there's anything we can add to the templates, from your experience with the templates for Perth? — Instantnood 17:09, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
- In the template, we can use the default values inside the parameters. Use {{{parameter=value|default}}}, and the default value can be left blank. For two liveries, can we use the gradient background (it's a CSS effect used in IE only, no idea it works in Firefox or not.) Also, maybe considering to add is the station got the Platform Screen Doors / Automatic Platform Gates. And something like public telephones stuffs are not requires to add because every station got these facilities. (see here for demo of the CSS filters)--Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 17:22, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Are You Sure?
I am a Perth resident and frequent user of the Transperth trains, and I am sure that no First generation trains have LCD screens. I am sure of that because;
- I've used the trains for about 7 years now
- The main line I use is the Joondalup line, which has the new trains, which are LCD screen inclusive.
But then again, 43 first-gen were built, and only 5 second-gen. The chances of getting a second-gen are slim. The first-gen, LCD free trains have "Walkers-ABB" on the side, signifying the company that constructs them. If you are positive that the second-gen old trains have LCD on them, please tell me. I am only trying to be sure here.--M Johnson 08:57, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- Noted that I've only changed the Transperth Second Generation A-series train page, and it reflects the A train sets 44-48, and it have the red LED screen to show the destination (Next station is → (Station name)) and indicates the Doors Closing on the screen. also FYI, this is not a LCD screen and it's the LED screen.
R1 | R2 | - | R3 | R4 | ||||||||||||
C | S | S | C | = | C | S | S | C | ||||||||
L1 | L2 | - | L3 | L4 |
The box above is shown about the plan for the Second generation of A set trains, L* and R* indicates the train doors and S shows the LED screen between the train doors. Also, there's have two more security cameras in the second generation A set trains.--Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 14:33, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Shenton Park rail station
Hey, i know awhile ago now i changed the zones for shenton park by taking out the 92, which you added back in. I was just wondering why the circle route zone number would be 92, wouldn't it be 2 sections or 1 zone, sorry if i am mistaken.--Ali K 07:24, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- The CircleRoute is not acting as the usual fare zone, the fare zone is specified for the CircleRoute, from Zone 91 to 97, running a circle around Perth inner suburbs around Fremantle, Shenton Park, Stirling, Morley, Bayswater, Belmont, Curtin, Southlands, Murdoch and Fremantle. See the PDF for the map details regarding the fare zone. --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 11:21, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Joondalup/Clarkson Line
Should we move Joondalup line to Clarkson line? Joondalup line is rarely mentioned on timetables, at stations-well, anywhere excepct for wikipedia. If we had to say whether to move it, I'd say aye. What would your call be--M W Johnson 01:49, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- It seems better continue to use the "Joondalup Line" per official timetables, also, the Joondalup Line maybe extended to Butler in the future, and redirects "Clarkson Line → Joondalup Line" (and also "Butler Line → Joondalup Line" in the future). --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 07:44, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template:TP Train Station
I've seen you've edited the template to implies the new #if Parser Functions. However, some articles that using the template has been broken. (it shows this part [style="vertical-align: top; font-style: italic; font-size: smaller; background: #EFEEEF;" style="vertical-align: top; font-style: italic; font-size: smaller;"] before the infobox). See Stirling railway station, Perth for example. As before, I've reverted this template into previous working revision. But seems maybe you didn't noticed that such changes would have those effects on those articles and reapplied the #if Parser Functions. Maybe you can revise those article that using the template before apply the changes. ;) --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 10:58, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your Mothers' Day expression...
Hello, Shinjiman. Just saw your interesting programming bit regarding Mothers' Day on various Selected Anniversaries templates. It's not currently appearing on Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/May, but it will, on this Sunday, show on every template carrying this "tag" listed on this page. Thought I should let you know about this potential problem. Also, can we change the appearing text to " '''[[Mother's Day]]''' in various countries ([[{{CURRENTYEAR}}]]), ", please ? This would match the format used in other similar holidays. Thanks. --PFHLai 06:06, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
BTW, don't worry about May 10th. It's Mother's Day regardless. -- PFHLai 06:06, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's possible to have Mother's Day at the second Sunday in May (i.e. between 8 May and 14 May inclusive). So this expression would be useful besides in this year. Also, feel free to change the statement mentioned at various templates. :D --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 06:33, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I don't quite understand the programming, but it seems the Mothers' Day line may appear up to 7 times on the Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/May page this Sunday, each time next to a different date. Problem ? And how do I make this appear on the May 14th template for the duration of 2006 ? -- PFHLai 09:25, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- In the ParserFunctions, we have used the #ifexpr to do the check, it's only appears when the time now is (between 8 May and 14 May) and it's (on Sunday). And previously I've made some errors that would appear that message 7 times while it's on Sunday. However, I've fixed up a bit to avoid this problem. The message only appears at 14 May as of 2006, on May 14 template only. :) --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 11:02, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

At the top of this talk page, User:Sam Spade gives you a link to Wikipedia:Cite your sources. In the section User_talk:Shinjiman#Just_Wondering you say just be bold to add that into the article. Whilst I agree with you in principle it would have been nice to ask him way back then to find a reference for it... I'm not against including the information first and then finding a source.
I have a vendetta against the plethora of Westfields articles, not many of them are notable really.
How many square meters is Westfield Carousel anyway? That at least is a readily verifiable fact to put into the article about a building. It is really pretty hard to verify which is the largest shopping centre in the southern hemisphere - you are competing with Rio de Janeiro and other cities in South America, and Indonesia. Most information about them is not in English so it is pretty hard for us to verify that kind of claim. Garrie 05:21, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- FYI, the statement which stats the largest shopping centre in WA was added by User:Mark [1]. However the Notability is neither a policy or guildline in the English Wikipedia. The main goal of the Wikipedia articles is verifiable. Also this page is giving about the fact about the Westfield Carousel, I think this should be a verifiable sources. --Shinjiman ⇔ ♨ 05:56, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:TVB drama vharmony cover.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:TVB drama vharmony cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:23, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:NewMetroRail logo.svg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:51, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Minutes to fame logo.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Minutes to fame logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ilse@ 15:24, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MultiRider
Hey, just noticed you added an additional cat to this article. Seemed a little redundant as Public transport in Perth, Western Australia is nested under the cat you added. Your edit summary indicated it's now used in the greater region of WA. Are you implying that the Multirider system is now used on some of the regional city public transport services, and if so would I be safe in assuming that you've got some detail to add to the article on this? [edit] Image source problem with Image:After School ICU logo.jpg
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:After School ICU logo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:47, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. [edit] Speedy deletion of Dog Swamp Shopping Centre
A tag has been placed on Dog Swamp Shopping Centre requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
